Jennifer Lopez’s red carpet appearance at the Unstoppable premiere turned heads, but not everyone was impressed. On September 6, at the Toronto International Film Festival, she stepped out in a glittering gown by Tamara Ralph Couture, part of the Fall/Winter 2024 collection. The outfit, with its sparkle-encrusted design, had some people comparing it to a table runner.
At 55, J.Lo showed up in a full-length gown that looked like it was covered in tiny mirrored tiles or metallic sequins, giving it a disco ball effect. The dress featured high side slits, each tied with black velvet bows, and a high neckline, making it a daring choice. Though the gown shimmered under the lights, not everyone was on board with the look.
Social media users had mixed reactions. One Facebook commenter didn’t hold back, saying, “She’s fit, but this dress doesn’t show off her strength. It looks like two sequined table runners tied together!” Another added, “She’s beautiful, but that dress just reminds me of a table runner. It’s not classy.”
Despite the criticism, J.Lo’s fans backed her bold fashion choice. “If I had her body, I’d wear this dress too,” one follower posted.
Interestingly, Ben Affleck, who produced Unstoppable, wasn’t at the premiere. His close friend and co-producer, Matt Damon, was there instead, even taking photos with Jennifer. Some felt the outfit didn’t quite match the event, with one person commenting, “This dress would make sense for a 70s-themed movie, not a sports film.”
This isn’t the first time Jennifer has faced scrutiny. Recently, comedian George Lopez questioned Affleck’s happiness in their marriage after she posted a revealing selfie in August. Jennifer and Ben, who had a long history dating back to their 2002 engagement, tied the knot in 2022 after rekindling their romance. However, earlier this year, reports surfaced about trouble in their relationship, and Jennifer filed for divorce in August, ending their two-year marriage.
Even with the mixed feedback, J.Lo’s bold choice proves she isn’t afraid to stand out on the red carpet.
