Gregory, a sweet Beagle, was just days away from being put down when Joe Kirk stepped in to save him. Gregory’s journey started in a tough place, as his previous owners couldn’t afford his medical care and had decided to surrender him for euthanasia. But thanks to Joe, Gregory’s story took a hopeful turn.
Joe and his wife, Schenley, run the Hound Rescue and Animal Sanctuary in Findlay, Ohio. Their mission is to give neglected dogs a second chance, especially older ones that are often overlooked. When they rescued Gregory, who was heartworm positive, Schenley shared a touching update online: “Gregory knows he’s safe now. Even though he needs treatment, he’s already so thankful and trusting.”
After getting Gregory the medical help he needed, the Kirks began searching for a family that would give him the loving home he deserved. It didn’t take long. A new family soon welcomed Gregory, and he even gained a Beagle sibling to play with.
Schenley reflected on their work, saying, “Each time we save a dog, it feels like one more life has been touched. That dog is safe, loved, and cared for. There’s nothing more rewarding.”
Gregory’s story shows how a simple act of kindness can change a life. His rescue reminds us all of the difference we can make for animals in need.
